We are living in a time of increasing uncertainty, both globally and here in the UK.
With societies facing multiple forms of turbulence, including geopolitical threats, environmental emergencies, economic challenges and more, building national resilience against these risks is more important than ever.
The UK Government, as in many other nations, recognises that responsibility for resilience is shared by Government, industry, local communities and individual citizens. But how prepared are people to play their part in this 'whole of society' approach? And how prepared do they feel that others like them, and the Government itself, are to act? These questions have vital importance for policy making, public engagement, community cohesion and democratic resilience.
October 2026 sees the launch of the Verian Preparedness Index, an international study measuring how citizens across more than 10 countries from Scandinavia to Australia perceive risk, responsibility and preparedness across economic, environmental, public health and national security challenges.
Join us for the UK launch at a breakfast event on Tuesday 13th October, where we will present the UK picture and draw important comparisons with other countries. Following a presentation of the Index findings, we will move to a keynote speech from Lord Toby Harris, the Chair of the National Preparedness Commission, and then open up to an expert panel discussion and questions.
