Remembering Rachel Pita

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Rachel Pita.

Rachel led our Mahinga Māramatanga Ahurea (Cultural Insights Practice) with extraordinary grace, intelligence and aroha. She helped shape work that mattered – but more than that, she shaped us as people. If you’ve had the privilege of knowing Rachel, you’ll know she had a rare gift for making others feel seen and valued for having spent time with her.

Rachel brought together deep cultural insight, genuine care for people, and a belief that research could and should make a difference. She built a practice that changed the way we think, the way we work, and the contribution we can make to Aotearoa.

Thank you to all those who have sent messages expressing your beautiful memories of Rachel. You have spoken of her generosity, her wisdom, her humour, and the way she lifted every room she walked into. She led with mana and humility, and she leaves an extraordinary legacy in the people she mentored, the colleagues and clients she inspired, and the communities her work served.

Our hearts are with Rachel’s whānau, her friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
