Webinar: Preparedness in the Era of Uncertainty

Written by Verian Group | Sep 3, 2026, 3:10:44 PM

How do citizens perceive and experience risk, and how prepared are they to act?

At a time of rising geopolitical uncertainty combined with heightened awareness of the risk of health, economic and environmental shocks, building national resilience is an international public policy priority. Governments around the world are calling for a 'whole of society' approach, where resilience is built through the partnership of Government, industry, civil society, local communities and individual citizens.

The Verian Preparedness Index provides unique and robust evidence for policy makers working in the arena of resilience. Exploring the perception of risk of crisis at the national level in relation to the economy, public health, the environment and in terms of conflict, the Index provides national measures and international comparisons on how citizens experience individual, community and national risk, and their perceptions of personal and stakeholder responsibilities to act.

At this webinar we will explore:

  • The values, attitudes and resources that citizens bring to preparedness policy

  • The critical issues of trust and communication and how they relate to national resilience

  • Whether preparedness policy can offer an opportunity to build community engagement and social capital

With measurement in more than 10 countries across the world, the Index provides an holistic picture of citizen engagement with economic, environmental, public health and national security resilience.
