Support to evidence-based policymaking in Poland

Written by Verian Group BE | Nov 21, 2025 4:49:02 pm

Under the EU Technical Support Instrument, Verian will be working with Statistics Poland (GUS) and the European Commission Reform and Investment Task Force (SG REFORM) on a new initiative to modernise GUS statistical operations and optimise the production and use of official statistics to strengthen evidence-based policy.

The project’s overarching goal is to support institutional, administrative and growth-sustaining reforms in Poland. Specifically, the project will:

  • Assist national authorities in improving their capacity to design, develop and implement reforms.
  • Enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of GUS in producing and disseminating high-quality statistical data.
  • Foster greater cooperation between GUS and external stakeholders to ensure that statistical data is better utilised in policy design and implementation.

To achieve these aims, the project will deliver a comprehensive programme of technical support, including:

  • Mapping and re-engineering GUS’s internal processes and workflows, with a focus on integrating new data sources and improving data sharing.
  • Developing an action plan for the implementation of re-engineered processes, based on lean and agile management principles.
  • Designing and institutionalising a permanent cooperation model between GUS and external stakeholders, to position GUS as a primary provider of reliable statistical data for policymaking.

The three partners are committed to working closely with all stakeholders to deliver lasting improvements in the national data landscape and contribute to better governance and policy outcomes.

The project is funded by the European Union via the Technical Support Instrument, managed by the European Commission Reform and Investment Task Force (SG REFORM).
